Organizer FAQS: Collecting Contributions

How do I collect Contributions?

We've partnered with WePay, a trusted online payment transaction company, to make it easy to collect contributions, payments and donations. People can make contributions with either their credit cards or their bank accounts. They don't have to have a WePay account to contribute. You'll receive the money directly into your WePay account and you can transfer it to your bank account or have WePay send you a check.
As you're filling in information to create your VolunteerSpot activity, we'll create a WePay account specific to this activity for you and take you to their website so you can create a unique WePay password. You'll automatically be directed right back to VolunteerSpot when you're done. If you already have a WePay account, great. You'll be able to enter your password to confirm that you're allowing contributions on your VolunteerSpot activity to be placed into your WePay account.

If I'm based outside of the U.S., can I set up contributions for (or make contributions) to my activity?

Unfortunately, no. The company that VolunteerSpot uses to handle donation transactions, WePay, only allows U.S.-based organizations to accept contributions. In the future we may be able to offer international users of SignUp.com the ability to have contributions made through WePay.

How much does VolunteerSpot cost?

You can use VolunteerSpot for free. There are no set-up charges or monthly fees. WePay charges a fee of 2.9% + $0.30 cents per transaction. All fees are automatically deducted from each transaction so you're never billed for anything.

Will I be notified when someone makes a contribution to my activity?

WePay will send you emails to notify you of contributions.
