One thing that I like to do if I have an early position in a big blind is to raise the two cards that I have good chances of hitting if the other person checks agen idn poker. Two of my starting hands in big blinds are usually strong, but if I have two cards that are playable, I sometimes like to put them on the table and wait for the other person to act, then raise them with poor cards if he checks. I call the pot and take the money from the pot because I think there's a chance that I might hit something on the flop. If I don't, I have something in the pot that I can get rid of if the other person checks. I can also use this time to decide whether or not I want to stay in the game and play it tight or try to pull ahead.
