The Mount Diablo Challenge was started 35 years ago by the Valley Spokesmen Bike Club in memory of a club member who passed away at the age of 26 due to a rare heart decease. Since then the Mount Diablo Challenge has become a premier cycling event in the East Bay attracting riders from across the nation. All riders are encouraged to participate, from competitive categorized riders to families and kids!
For 2017, the Valley Spokesmen will resume organization of the event and is seeking to increase participation from the racing community to the broader cycling community with an emphasis on family participation. Riders will be timed using a computerized chip in order to provide an accurate measure of their completion time. New this year will be a festival at Oak Hill Park with music, beer garden, vendor expo and food trucks.
We need your help to make this event successful. Please volunteer.
