Access to Justice Room/Self-Help Centers
Be part of Hawai‘i’s statewide effort to expand access to justice. Volunteer attorneys provide legal information and guidance to self-represented individuals at the Honolulu Access to Justice Room and the Self-Help Centers on Kaua‘i, Maui, Hilo, and Kona. Volunteers may participate remotely or in-person, depending on center operations. Malpractice coverage is provided through the Hawai‘i State Bar Association.
Please complete the following steps to ensure malpractice coverage and program compliance:
- Required Volunteer Training (CLE-eligible)
- (Honolulu) Honolulu Access to Justice Room Training
- (Kaua'i, Maui, Hilo, Kona) Neighbor Island Self-Help Center Training
- Please email Tiane.Inciong@legalaidhawaii.org once training is complete to confirm participation and report CLE.
Training only needs to be completed once. Volunteers who have already completed either the in-person or online training do not need to complete it again.
Please complete the required training no later than 48 hours prior to your first shift. Detailed instructions and resources will be provided prior to your service.
Please email Tiane Inciong at tiane.inciong@legalaidhawaii.org for questions or feedback.
Mahalo for increasing access to justice in your community!
