Earth Day Volunteer Extravaganza
Join Dane County Parks for an Earth Day Extravaganza at the Lussier Family Heritage Center! Sign up to volunteer at our Lussier Family Heritage Center Facility Earth Day Celebration. We will offer 1.5 hour shifts for a number of activities including tree planting, brush cutting, trash pickup, mulching and more. We will have various activities in need of volunteer help. Each activity has a minimum age requirement listed.
Before or after your volunteer shift you can explore other booths and activity stations that will be set up on the grounds, including:
- Oak Tree Sapling Giveaway – Dane County Tree Board
- Healthy Parks, Healthy You Initiative
- Self-guided Scavenger Hunt
- Seed Ball making

Mulching Garden Beds (18+)
Age: 18+Description: Volunteers will help mulch our native prairie and pollinator gardens. A Dane County Parks staff person will direct you. This may include using a wheelbarrow to haul mulch or a rake to spread mulch around. No experience is necessary.Check in: Check in at the volunteer check in table slightly before your shift.

Native Plant Transplanting
Age: 10+Description: Volunteers will help transplant native plant seedlings into pots and trays. Activities could include filling pots with potting mix (standing, lifting) or transplanting the seedlings into the pots (seated). This activity will be inside the building. A Dane County Parks staff person or volunteer will direct you. Check in: Check in at the volunteer check in table slightly before your shift.

Age: 14+Description: Volunteers will work with forestry staff to plant native trees and prune existing trees. No experience is necessary.Check in: Check in at the volunteer check in table slightly before your shift.
